  • Just Under Six Weeks..

...until the big day! Last thing I remember, it was still 9 or 10 months away!

I am starting to excited, and squealing at random and often inappropriate moments. I've caught word that a shower is in the works--I just don't know anything more and it drives me nuts! I'm a bit of a control freak about schedules and stuff, and having something and not knowing when is completely out there for me in that realm of "what am I going to do if I schedule something on the same day??"

It looks like all but one of my weekends are full of wedding related stuff from here on out. Mostly I will be driving down to Sussex Co. Delaware for things like final cake consultation, pastor meeting to plan the ceremony, hair and make-up trial, etc. etc.

Today I had my second dress fitting (out of three, with the pick-up the day before the wedding) and have to choose a style of bustle to have done for during the reception. So exciting! For me, anyways...I'm sure most people I gush to about a bustle aren't nearly as enthused.

Aside from wedding planning and such, I am a busy girl! I am working in the mornings 2-3 times a week as an auditor for an inventory company, and in the afternoons M-F from 3-6 I work as an administrative assistant...AND Tue-Thur nights I have two online classes. Whew!

Its getting towards the middle of October, and i'm turning 22 on the 28th. Yay! Today Bryan and I went to America's Best in Bel Air MD to get me new glasses. He paid for them as a birthday present--its been two years and I don't have the money for it, so I asked for new glasses for my birthday. How practical! My car is doing good, and that's really where a good chunk of my money is going...but it's worth it. It is the first thing I can really say is MINE.

I don't know if I will update again before the wedding, but I know it will come up faster than I can think--and next thing you know I will be Mrs. Thomas and spending a week in Vermont. Whoo!

    Where have I been

Admittedly, it has been a WHILE since i've done more than lurk on here. I have deemed it time to make an update. Yay!...or something.

First--on July 28th I lost my job at DE claims where I was working full time. Laid off--what luck. It was very frustrating but I did my best not to get too angry or upset and hope that something better would come out of the situation.

Second--I got a job at RGIS, a place I formerly worked, part-time mornings. Bryan's sister Heather also works there and we are good friends, so it makes things more bearable. Most stores start at 6 or 7am, so getting up at 5am has become pretty standard on days I have to work there--usually three times a week.

Third--I got a second part-time job at a small company called Qwest Credit Enhancement. We help people raise their credit scores so they can get a mortgage or refinance. I am an administrative assistant in the afternoons from 1:00-4:30 M-F.

Fourth--The wedding is still progressing on schedule. We haven't had to make any major changes in light of my recent career changes. The only big thing coming up is my dress fitting at the end of September. We will start planning the actual ceremony in September as well--I'm looking forward to that.

Fifth--I'm still alive and well. Aside from an annoying cold a week or two back, no major health issues. I'm learning that asthma tends to act up more with a cold or congestion....very troublesome.

  • Yay me

A seldom update--and here it is. The wedding planning is still going smoothly...my maid of honor Holly got her dress a couple weeks ago. I spent the day with her when she picked it up and i'm glad that she likes it as much as I do. I'm going to miss her while she's away in Europe for two months, but when she returns she will be there to put together my bridal shower and help me with the final details. I'm just glad I got to spend some quality time with her before her trip.

I've tried to order/buy as many accessories for the ceremony and reception beforehand as possible. That way the rest of the money can be dedicated to paying off the bigger items--the hall, food, photography and entertainment. We have registered at the two stores we wanted for our wedding--Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond. The info is posted on our wedding website, of course. I need to update that thing....

In addition to work and planning the wedding--I bought a new car this past weekend.
I had been thinking about when I would be able to afford one for awhile, and I decided to start looking about pricing and seeing what vehicle I may want. It came down to the Nissan Versa 5-door. Bryan and I went to the local Nissan dealer on Friday evening, did a test drive and talked about financing with the salesman. We couldn't get any approvals that night since it was after 5:00pm so we left and came back Sunday afternoon.  We got approved--but we stuck to our limitations and didn't accept anything more than what I could realistically afford.  In the end, they worked out a down-payment and a monthly payment we liked and I signed the paper work (Bryan co-signed on the lease) and I drove my new shiny black Nissan Versa home.

This is just a factory photo--i'll probably put up pictures that I've taken pretty soon. It is super-adorable and I haven't named it yet.  I feel like i've really accomplished something and am on my way to building good credit.

    Go me!
